Gray Reflections

Todays post is a bit different from my usual post. Sophistique Noir's montly theme is Gray. I wanted to share some pictures of a trip my husband and I took to Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic a few years ago, when we used to do things (before kids). Le Sigh.....

Please check out the rest of the posts for Sophitique Noir's Monthly theme by clicking the picture below. As always, thanks for visiting.
Cheers!

  3. I love your take on the theme! These photos are breathtaking. I really love the second one (I'm quite a fan of gargoyles, and this one is so unique!). You'll do things again, someday when the kids are out of the way... ;-D Thank you so much for sharing your memories!

  5. Thanks so much for your sweet words on my blog. Im glad that you like my photos! I fell in love with that little gargoyle piglet on one of the buildings in your pictures. Isn't it scary cute? You must have made a lovely trip.

    1. Yes, isn't he cute? I think he's also a water spout, wish I could get a pic of that.

  6. When I was a kid, my Mom and Dad took us everywhere (four girls), once we even travelled to Morocco in june with a motorhome, when my youngest sister was two, and I was five, so it's possible, though nowadays my parents admit, that we would've stopped in Paris, then head to North if they knew what they were about to do. :D

I Love the pictures, especially the one with the dragon (?chimera?).

    1. My husband and I were/are threatening to take the kids to Norway for a month while my husband works. It's probably just a pipe dream #1 b/c I can't imagine being on a 12 hour flight with them and #2 I would actually have to save up a ton just to pay for the air tickets. But yes, I hear what you are saying- it is possible to take kids on trips and I know it enriches their lives immensely as I'm sure you can attest to.
Also, the dragon is actually a huge statue on a bridge in Prague, facing the incoming ships. I cropped the pic so you could see it better but I guess that distorts the sheer size of the thing.

  7. Wow, those are all gorgeous shots! I haven't been to Europe yet, but the idea of seeing all the lovely spooky castles is certainly a motivator!

  8. Very beautiful photographs! I don't have kids, but never get to travel so much anymore because of financial problems. It's frustrating. Looking at old pictures makes you re-live the journeys you made though and that can be a little comforting too, I guess. :)

    1. I agree. I try not to dwell on the past too much but sometimes it's fun to live vicariously through your old photographs. I've been on a photo purge lately so the past is on my mind. Thanks for coming to visit. :)
Also, Hexotica did a few blog posts on traveling on a budget and how to work where you visit to pay for your trip. You might be interested in checking it out.
